This page recaps the 2009 State Group 3 title season
STATE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!

West Morris and coach Beth Grasso won their first ever state title last night, beating Northern Highlands 18-25, 25-20, 25-17 in the Group 3 title game.  WMC came back strong after losing the first game.  The Highlanders couldn't seem to get untracked as Highlands eventually pulled away for a relatively easy first game win.  After going down 5-1 in the 2nd game, WMC roared back behind the serving of Morgan Cross and the hitting of Morgan Blair to even the match at 1 game apiece.  In the 3rd and deciding game, Kelly Maguire shook off an early ankle injury and took control as WMC took a commanding lead it never relinquished.  West Morris now plays in the Tournament of Champions on Saturday, back at William Patterson University.  They will get another chance to beat undefeated Bridgewater-Raritan, who won at WMC early in the season.  Bridgewater is the #2 seed and Group 4 champion.  The match will take place at 3PM.  Here is the Star Legder story on the match and the Daily Record story.
